It\'s a new online Mahjong software, free to play, with AWESOME 3D graphics, sound effects, etc. Check it out, though it does require you to know Japanese to get started.

It\'s out of closed beta for a while now but many^2 have problems connecting

Plaync do seem to have a routing problem

It isn\'t actually banning of non-japanese ips (I think), there are a few people outside of japan who can connect to it so it might be just that the server has a bad routing or whatever. Also it isn\'t just Janryumon\'s site, I can\'t connect to anything related to PlayNC\'s JP sites (www.plaync.jp and http://www.ncjapan.co.jp) I would e-mail them but can\'t find any sort of information that doesn\'t lead to one of those sites.

If anyone figures out the way to get this working then please let the board know.

Sometimes its nice to have some eye candy.

I have managed to get the main page loaded by googling for a japanese privacy proxy (used to hide your ip from the destination server by readdresses/maps them at the proxy ... as opposed to your typical isp proxy which just wraps the package in another package labbeled to itself). I did struggle to get any further.

just download and use a PacketiX VPN it connects to a free japanese hub and tadaaa you can download the game and play. I\'m playing by the name Ruro there and i really enjoying it :) I hope it will stay free because it would be so strange to return to a 2d mj for me now :P

If I\'ve got the right PacketIX VPN (from Plat\'Home?) then it\'s trial version runs for 60 days then you get hit with a $499.00 fee ... have I got the right one ... are there any others (ideally free or very cheap)

What settings do you use as the proxy or vpn server etc

thanks

So I got through the registration. I have a log-in and everything.

But I can\'t download the client. The instructions are telling me to click a log-in box that isn\'t there! The attached image shows what I\'m talking about.

Clicking the large round red button just gives me an error telling me I need to log in. Image

Are you using Internet Explorer? If not you will not see this login box. Also you have to instal their Activex plugin (while using ie, you will get prompt to do it)

is it normal that my internet goes 30 times slower after using the vpn client?

VPN 101

Typically vpn clients tunnel all internet traffic through the vpn. The traffic will travel to the vpn server and go out from there. If the vpn server has a slower connection (or more heavily used) than your personal broadband connection then you will see a marked drop in throughput.

Are you talking about the general internet or specifically jan ryu mon?

I have heard that jan ryu mon is slow (whether that is a under-spec\'ed server or internet connection it is not clear) from other comments on ReachMahjong.com.

If it is your general internet connection, then you should expect that on the machine that you are running the vpn client software the maximum throughput you will get will be the throughput of whatever choke point along the route your computer->your broadband->route across the internet->the janryumon internet connection->the janryumon vpn server-> back up the internet connection.

I have yet to get jan ryu mon working (through lack of time configuring a vpn client) so could not comment on the individual service.

No need to configure a VPN.

Just google \"Packetix VPN Secure\"

Download and connect to the \'secure\' server. It happens automatically and does not require any configuration. The speed is good too.

Couldn\'t be easier and it costs nothing :)

I use this secure too, but i feel little lags while playing. When I was playing form school (where i connect directly not through VPN) games where faster.
