Tenhou: HotelFSR

Ron2: SumioMondo

ToupaiOu: HotelFSR / HotelFSRII

At the moment I play only on ToupaiOu with HotelFSRII. I find ToupaiOu the best site to play on overall (interface + chat).

I was a pretty awful player until I started to really read up on the game and study replays, at which point I started the HotelFSRII account. I took my rating overnight from ~1100 to ~1600 and rising! This is thanks in no small part to ReachMahjong.com!

Huhu, only play on Tenhou just love the interface and simplicity and also the ranking system allowing you to only meet better players, too bad about no chat but no big deal really.

Tenhou: Yttrasil is the name

You find me playing 3 player mahjong on the middle stages very loose and not seriously and 4 player on the upper one if any of you are there it would be fun to play :) ;)

What do you mean by upper and middle stages?

Yeah, I definitely like Tenhou almost as much. Since I speak some Japanese, though, I like the chat function on ToupaiOu. Makes it less impersonal and players can express themselves when the game gets tense, etc. More fun that way.

I also like that ToupaiOu has more detailed player stats. It also lets you see player ratings IN GAME which is definitely missing from Tenhou.

I have heard it\'s possible to find a very detailed stat sheet (like, two pages worth) on Tenhou but I don\'t know how. Anyone here know?

Um, as you progress you can play higher levels as in when you hit 1st dan you can play vs other 1 dan players and up then at 4th dan against 4th dan and up.

Chatting is alright but that thing above is what makes it for me, so it makes it a good sport. If I remember correctly the one for tenhou is for pay account only or the like, not sure.

Seeing the rating before the game is enough for me, then watching the kyu-dan levels tells quite alot too =)

I understand now.

ToupaiOu has this feature as well. In the normal lobby you enter game rooms like on Ron2. However, there is also a high level lobby which has automatic matchmaking just like Tenhou. You can only enter if you have a high rating.

You should check it out.

Tenhou: patomaru (romaji)

and because I hate consistency

Ron2: patomaru (pato is in katakana and maru is the kanji for circle)

I think I might try out toupaiOU tonight based on everyone\'s positive reviews. If possible

ToupaiOu: same as ron2

Tenhou: Arcade

The new table (phoenix table) which is going to be installed from next month has a restriction of 7dan & R2000. Completely nuts. :woohoo:

Ron2: Yu (it\'s in this kanji http://dic.yahoo.co.jp/dsearch?enc=UTF- ... 5721136900)

Due to my private matter, I\'m unable to play Tenhou, so that is only a handle I have.

Eeeh really, dammit 7th dan... now there is another level to archive :D Might be fun though to try, a bit sad they won\'t be playing at our levels anymore though.

What\'s ur dan and rating now Arcade? :)

Edit: Seems u need to be a paying costumer also, might not be worth it then.:S

4 : 5danR1950
3 : 7danR2100
You?

Looks like it\'s going to be installed from today, so I checked out a few things.
Out of the 150,000 active accounts, 100 players at most for each style qualify for the phoenix table.
Say half don\'t pay, thats ten tables of players at maximum.
Not much motivating to dish out cash for that sole purpose. =/

I\'d be happy to watch these elite people play, though. Hoping that part of it is free. :side:

Mine is

4: 4danR1881 atm, actually got down to 3rd dan after I didn\'t play very seriously didn\'t know you could lose rank before that =/ But luckily I got back and will possibly be 5th soon.

3: 3danR1750 or something, was at like R1950 but I just play 3 player to get cool hands these days and don\'t take it seriously at all, still fun to just go for it all the time trying to get yakumans.

Yep seems it\'s up, too bad you can\'t see it at all with economy version to see if any games are running there, is it up and running well? 4th dan and up was also quite empty in the beginning but is getting more and more crowded also :) Will take freeking ages to get 7th dan, don\'t think I can do it for quite some time without reading books and learn the theory behind the game :)
