Mahjong Manga

Post by dwillems » Sat Jan 17, 2009 3:23 pm

Tom Sloper\'s site posted a link to an amusing looking manga here:

There is also a manga being fan translated called Saki which I\'ve enjoyed reading, apparently it will be turned into an anime this season. You can read it here:

Finally! Someone steps up to the plate! Thanks oxoboxo, you\'re doing what I should have done a long time ago. I\'ve been reading that manga for over 2 years... :(

just finished reading what there was of Saki... it\'s nothing compared to Akagi :P (uninspiring character designs, personalities, unbelievable matches (in a bad way), needless shots of the girls bathing and their legs.. taco powered player??) anyways good for a few laughs, it\'s mah jong so I\'ll watch the anime when it comes out..

The Bush manga sounds interesting too :}

Unfortunately Saki\'s kind of typical for most Mahjong manga. Works that are really good like akagi, ten, mukoubuchi or anything by katayama masayuki are few and far between.

The neat thing about Saki is that its serialized in a non-mahjong manga magazine.

Yeah, also read Saki the day I saw this post kept me busy for a few hours I feed on anything that\'s about mahjong. Akagi is still the best though :D

You dont know the half of it:side: Mahjong manga that actually reflects a realistic game is relatively new. Old stuff is all about getting doubleyakuman against gangsters and then having some girl who loves men who are good at mahjong fall in love with you.
