My favorites are ofcourse Akagi, Ten, Usagi, Tenpai, and most of what Katayama made. Saki is getting close to the list too.
What I like about saki is that mahjong is drawn to be more of a sport rather than gambling contrary to other typical mahjong-manga-worlds. The gameplay itself basicly reflecting realistic mahjong (internet mahjong, to be particular) adds to it. Yakumans don\'t happen every 2 games, and players don\'t resort to hell waits every so often. The logical type of player (Nodoka) doesn\'t get swatted like a fly as in stereo type mahjong manga and actually does pretty well. Know what I mean?

LOL... well I wish the Chinese would start making movies etc about more realistic mah jong - all I\'ve seen are Chinese comedies about mah jong where they go over the top and nothing is believable - though maybe it\'s because their form of Mah Jong is less strategic. :pBenjamin wrote:You dont know the half of it:side: Mahjong manga that actually reflects a realistic game is relatively new. Old stuff is all about getting doubleyakuman against gangsters and then having some girl who loves men who are good at mahjong fall in love with you.
One thing that annoys me about Saki is how she\'s so confident about getting the rin shan kai ho.. among other things

There is actually someone who thinks that by playing correctly you can see what the ura-dora is and thus know every time if it\'s going to hit or not. And he\'s pretty famous here too.

Oh, and the Pope playing mahjong along with quotes from Genesis was just hillarious. Amen, :S
