Pros and cons of various reach mahjong sites
I\'ve been playing Japanese mahjong online for a little while now, but exclusively on Tenhou. It seems like Ron2 is favored around here, though. What are your thoughts on the popular sites to play on?

I like Toupaiou best.
I actually think Tenhou is better than Ron2. The reason I like Toupaiou is that it has all the features of Tenhou plus ingame chat and lobbies where you can make games instead of a matchmaking system, which is nice if you make online friends. The dan lobby does have an anonymous matchmaking system.
Unlike both Tenhou and Ron2, Toupaiou also gives you full functionality for free, including 3D graphics, records and replays. Not sure how they make any money!
Another thing I like is that you can access any players\' record ingame. Tenhou only lets you see their rank, which means very little compared to rating. Toupaiou shows rating, and on top of that you can click for a full breakdown.
Finally, Toupaiou keeps track of \'play money\' points which show how you\'d be doing if you were playing for stakes.

I like Tenhou because im not very fluent in jap :P (3kyuu level, but thats only on paper lol :P ), i like it\'s \"design\" (to actually see the walls). Toupaiou is great too, i played a bit at there too, but i like tenhou-s design more. And for Ron2, well it\'s not bad at all, but it seems too hard for me (out of 5 games people just win over me in 4, and in a very brutal way too). All 3 site is good, i just wish i had the time to play more on them :)

As we speak Toupaiou has just been updated so that even the normal lobbies have matchmaking. There\'s now a separate section for arranged games.
Ruro: 5 games is not enough to judge the competition on the site as a whole.

How do I get to Toupaiou? A Google search using Romaji doesn\'t do it, and I don\'t know which kanji I should be using...?

I play on tenhou because I have learnt a portion of the interface and I love the playing table/tiles.
I have setup an account on Ron2 but have yet to sit down and learnt the interface .... maybe soon

yea Ron2 is fairly easy to control. But i have a strange question, about tenhou. I made an account there and only played at the flash version (not the windows one) and after some time passed (like 3-4 weeks) it demanded that i register and pay for my account. Isn\'t the non-windows economy account free?
