Re: New WWYD
, I think breaking either of the or is a bad idea. Just going for tanyao by melding is fine for me with that lead.
Leaving the in your hand would damage the 234 or 345 sanshoku too, having 6 sets in the hand, you'd eventually have to break one.

Re: New WWYD
This hand is 2 shanten for itsu or sanshoku, and is already 1 shanten for a fast tanyao.
With the we don't move closer to tenpai (still 1 shanten), and it don't fit with itsu nor sanshoku.
In the other hand, it will be hard to keep all the dots. I mean, if we make itsu, we'll discard two of them and keep the others for the pair. If we make sanshoku, the pair is likely to be from , or , and will be discarded.
The main interest in keeping them it to let open the iipeikou possibility, but I don't think we will go for it anyway.
So we can discard either , or , depending on the others' discard.
All things equal, if we discard:
: tenpai with 34pin 25sou, 12 living tiles.
: tenpai with 14wan 25sou, 15 living tiles.
: tenpai with 14wan 25sou, 15 living tiles.
So I'll discard or now. The may go away later if we draw a good tile for itsu or sanshoku.

And what would you discard now if you knew the next tile you draw is a (cuz this was my next draw)?
And what would you discard after drawing the ?

So this thread is a trap
-> 3wan or 3pin, I don't know
The double ryanmen 2334 is not very interesting here (we have other ryanmen), so I'll probably discard 3pin to avoid the possible furiten on 4pin.
If we draw any of 358wan 2sou we're tenpai on sanshoku tanyao (+/- pinfuu).
With 5sou it's tenpai with only tanyao ... and a 3-sided wait!
4wan gives us an uninteresting tenpai (tanyao only, single wait).
1wan gives an even poorer tenpai (no yaku), and will lead to itsu.
The only way to use the 1-han-iipeikou is to break either the 2-han-itsu or the 2-han-sanshoku.
Sorry, I have to go. I'll delay my answer.
-> 3wan, if I draw 58wan 4pin 2sou, it's tenpai on sanshoku tanyao (+/- pinfuu).
2wan 1pin 5sou is tenpai with only pinfuu (+/- tanyao).

This hand seems kinda deceptive at first... but it's still 2-shantenBunta wrote:

I'd think you'd want to discard both the and in this case and hope for the or ...
Other than that, I'm too tired right now to think of what you could do...

We're 2-shanten for itsu, only 1-shanten for sanshoku or iipeikou.Shirluban wrote:

If we draw 2sou, 58wan or 4pin, we're tenpai on sanshoku tanyao (+/- pinfuu).
With 5sou, it's tenpai on only pinfu (+/- tanyao). (It's better to keep the 4pin pair in this case. Else, we would not have pinfu+tanyao.)
With 2wan, it's tenpai on pinfu tanyao.
@ cavemaneca: It's 1-shanten, not 2. Once we have discarded, and so have 13 tiles in hand, we need only one tile to be tenpai.
