One of the trailers showed some new minigames but it was very likely that they'd recycle some old ones too.

I have to say I'm not really a fan overall. Would've much preferred a sequel to sci-fi shooter, Binary Domain.

Tried the demo a few days ago, and I really liked the fluidity of the movement, specially when on the last fight just after the chase (which was pretty cool), when I changed to the combat style for 1vs1.

The story might be promising, it's an interesting change to be in Kamurocho with a detective.

Still, I need more information on it to decide if I'll buy it.

Extra: Don't remember if somebody already said something about it, but found a game on Steam called Mahjong Club, it's cheap, about 4 euro. And the English and Japanese comments are positive... Seems buyers liked it. It's a game with 咲-Saki style, with super powers, and looks good even if it's still in development to fix some issues and, maybe, add more content. It has potential to be one of the best japanese mahjong game on Steam (well, the bar for the best japanese mahjong game in Steam is yet to be set above "just good", so it's not a super hard challenge to beat).
Life is as beautiful as you want it to be, but it´s only one. That´s why you must not get tired of it. Don´t care if you don´t say something that seems "important" because your mere existence is important for someone.

This is a downloadable title but Amazon Japan is now listing a physical edition due in late November.

It's scheduled to release in Japan in December 2018 and in the West next year (working title for English version is Project JUDGE).
Minigame info has been reported including new details for the mahjong.

One of the parlours is named Mahjong Tachibana as part of a tie-in with Fuji TV ONE's show 'The Wareme De Pon' and Yurika Tachibana.

A screenshot shows two special rules applied - there's a marker for Wareme and two Dora indicators active (with no kongs declared).

That fits with the rules I found here: http://otn.fujitv.co.jp/warepon/rule.html

The international title was confirmed today in the Kinda Funny Games Showcase stream as "Judgment".

It'll release next summer and include an English dub (dual audio options, I think).

The version 4.5 update for Final Fantasy XIV on 8 Jan 2019 will add a playable mahjong minigame with Japanese rules.

You'll be able to play against bots or against other players online in either casual mode or competitive mode with ranks and ratings.

Just spotted a couple of new PS4 mahjong games on the Japanese PSN store. Not too fancy, but better than nothing!

I've added them both to the listings at the top of this thread. Here are the trailers:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_z8cCbqML0

They're both available on the Nintendo Switch too.

(I see the Switch also got a remake of the 1994 strip mahjong game Super-Real Mahjong PV!)

Incidentally these guides mark the tenth anniversary of my first ever guide - for the mahjong minigame in Yakuza 2.

Earlier this year my GameFAQs guides reached a total of one million views. 8)

Not bad, considering half of them are for obscure Japanese mahjong games!

The detective game from the Yakuza studio released in the West this week under the title Judgment (21 June digital / 25 June physical). The Japanese version was actually cancelled following a drugs scandal with one of the actors but his character model and voice lines have now been replaced and the game will re-release in Japan next month.

Their mahjong minigame is mostly the same as usual, but this game introduces Open Riichi. There's also a third mahjong parlour which is a tie-in with the Japanese TV show 'The Wareme de Pon'. You can meet and befriend Yurika from the TV show and the parlour rules include double Dora and Wareme. Details of the rules, completion requirements and how to unlock the parlour are given in my page on the Yakuza wiki. Some names are based on translations from the Japanese game and might be different in the Western edition.

Nintendo have just announced the Switch Lite, a portable-only version of their Switch hybrid console, available from September.

It will be smaller, lighter and cheaper than the original model, but it won't support TV mode or table mode.

Including download-only and two-player titles, the Switch has around a dozen mahjong games now (list), with at least one more due before the end of 2019.

Hopefully there will be no issues with international region compatibility.

Nintendo have now also revealed that a revised version of the full home/portable Switch console will also be launching in September.

This will have a battery life of between 4.5 and 9 hours, where the original model currently provides 2.5 to 6.5 hours.

https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2019-07-17-new-nintendo-switch-version-will-have-longer-battery-life

Probably worth waiting if you're looking to buy a new Switch.
