That character is \"Soku\", it can mean fast/immediate. So \"Soku Rii\" means a fast Riichi like as soon as you become Tenpai.
160/331, that\'s nearly half! I wonder what your Tanyao and Pinfu rates are...
Yeah I thought that calling Riichi earlier was luck based, but I guess they just wanted to create more titles. There\'s probably a stats bit which includes Yakuman counts, including \"Tenhou\" and \"Chii Hou\" which are 100% luck based.
You\'re not alone in missing big hands, and there\'s more to come for all of us who play! Maybe that\'s why it can be addictive, coz you wanna see if you can get that big hand next time!

Re:Dealer continuances
Well Riichi is the name of the game. :) A nice pie-chart shows that over 50% of my wins were with concealed hands.
I don´t seem to be getting Tanyao or Pinfu as often as I used to, but I am remembering to try for San Shoku and Chanta more often now.
The game stats include counts for all Yaku, Dora and Yakuman, which is great - although I wish I could copy across data from the Yakuza games (but they don´t have stats anyway, apart from high score).
For my first few weeks of playing mahjong I was obsessed with getting a Yakuman. Then I got a counted Yakuman and became obsessed with getting a \"proper\" one. Then I made Suu An Kou and now I´m obsessed with making all the other Yakuman...!!
I guess every Yaku requires at least some degree of luck, but yeah Tenhou etc are pure luck. Would still be very nice to get one!
Thanks for the translation. I like to know what the kanji are, I´m starting to learn a few.
Speaking of which, could you take a look at these please?

These are the first eight \"titles\" I got. I would like to know what the top-left, top-right and bottom-right ones are.
top-left - do you think it´s \"jan tsuchi\"? (dirt)
top-right - this was my first Yakuman in the game (Suu An Kou), I didn´t get titles for the next two :( but what\'s the Jan thingy?
bottom-right - no idea, except it´s Jan Tora again.
Thanks. :)

(use Shift-JIS)
Top Left - Apprentice Janshi (Mahjong Player)! You thought of the wrong Kanji, “y (soil/dirt) and Žm (servant) are different. In the first one, the bottom line is longer while in the other one, it\'s shorter.
Top Right - Suu Ankou\'s Jan Ghost
Bottom Right - Jan Tiger who is patient in calling melds (implying you keep your hand concealed a lot which is true!)
Good luck with getting all the other Yakumans, some of them are ridiculously rare compared to others, especially Suu Kantsu (4 Kans)!!!

Re:Dealer continuances
Oh! I did think that \"dirt\" was a little harsh for a beginner. heh! This is great, thanks again.
I´m still yet to see the yaku of three kan so I´m not expecting to see four any time soon.
I think I´d most like to make Tsuiisou (All Honours). That´s my favourite Yakuman - the most aesthetically pleasing I think.
I checked my stats last night (over 361 hand wins).
69 Pinfu
32 Tanyao
166 Dora - no Red Fives obviously :P
1 Little Three Dragons
I just made that last one last night, although I´d got it in Yakuza before. You can really see which hands I favour too...
21 Toi Toi
31 Honitsu (I try for this way too often!)
6 Chinitsu

Re:Dealer continuances
AHH ty i was looking for that 3rd rule!!essnov wrote:Hey there,
Both online and IRL, the rules for dealer continuance that I use are the following:
- After an exhaustive draw, the deal only passes if east is noten (not ready).
- If east wins, then he gets another shot at being the dealer.
- During the south fourth round, the dealer may choose to end the hanchan if he wins the hand and is leading in terms of total points for the hanchan (this is automatic on tenhou.net).
Hope this helps.

Re:Dealer continuances
It´s usually called Agari Yame. It took me a little while to figure out what was happening and finally I had to ask on here for confirmation.
BTW in case anyone was sad enough to be following this thread ;) I´ve got my last two \"titles\" on Mahjong Taikai IV now giving me a full set of sixteen. They were two more \"early riichi\" titles, one for a Mahjong King and finally a Mahjong Emperor! I think that´s overstating my ability just a little...
I think I still need to unlock all the music tracks to \"complete\" the game and it´s starting to give them to me less often now - another cheap mechanism to extend the longevity methinks!
