I'll discard
and stay silent.
I prefer a triple wait on three live tiles than a single wait on three live tiles.
The hand will also be more flexible (ex: draw the 1, discard the 8, and wait on 1-4-7), and the full flush will reward at least the same.

But with either choice that keeps you in tenpai, there are only 3 tiles left that we can win off. I'm not optimistic about the chances of winning before north or south. Dealing into north would probably drop us in last place going into the last round, so we have a lot to lose. On the other hand, as long as we don't deal in, if South wins then we're still in 2nd place (and he probably has a cheap hand) and if North wins we might still be in first, worst case second. So if we drew an especially dangerous tile after this, fold. I'm still on the fence whether or not 8p is safe enough.
edit: I also just realized that since we can see 3

is safe *enough* that it's not worth breaking tenpai. Also there's no
showing and it's non-yakuhai for everyone, so I feel like there's a decent chance it would come out.

it's really unlikely that anyone's waiting with

should be safe enough.

Don't tell me... someone is waiting on that Xia.

I'll drop that Xia, with the wait on 7-8-9 pin. If someone Ron's it, I lose points like a man.

The whole thing blew out of the window when I noticed the discarded 7p and 9p.
8p until you draw a better wait. Dama.

The one thing I want to know: Did the Xia actually result in a loss here?

That sort of thing doesn't matter. It will only lead to result-based reasoning.Kyuu wrote:The one thing I want to know: Did the Xia actually result in a loss here?
You may ask only if it is purely and solely out of curiosity.
