Hello, this is Shintaro Konno. Last time I wrote about determining what sort of hands your opponents are aiming for by reading their discards. This time I want to write about “Reading Discards” and correctly working out what your opponent is waiting for.
I’d like to introduce Shintaro Konno to you. He is a member of the Japan Professional Mahjong League and Mahjong is his full career. He spends his time teaching Mahjong lessons, creating tournament stats and reports, writing columns and running mahjong events. You know him as the rules director at the World Series of Mahjong Reach Event.
We have a new columnist at ReachMahjong.com! Konno was part of RM.com's team which was at the World Series of Mahjong. Our new member is very keen on spreading the word of Mahjong internationally. We'll be publishing these articles in English and Japanese so it'll also double as language training for any of you studying Japanese. His first article will be published on the third Thursday of every month so please keep checking RM.com. In the meantime, here are some more details to get you excited!
