Mahjong Comes to the UK!

How excited did you think I was when I received an email last month with this news?! Some of you may already know Ian Fraser and Peter Langford. I met them in Hannover during last years European Riichi Tournament. I was very excited to hear from them that this year they're planning an invitational this year in my home country! Of course, it is also a real honour to be invited to attend! I cannot wait to meet some more UK players. It's been a real long time coming for a riichi event in the UK. The decision to organize such an event is always a difficult one as it takes a lot of planning. (Planning is a skill I lack as anyone who knows you will tell you! So I'm in particular awe.) Particularly if you're planning to invite players from other language groups and mahjong backgrounds to attend. Ian Fraser and Peter Langford will be doing a great service to UK mahjong and I hope this can be a springboard for growth of the game in the UK. Of course RM.com, and especially myself, will do everything we can to make the event a great success so that there can be more! Anyway, I'm going! I'm excited! I'll also be reporting on the day's events so make sure you pay attention because the Brits from our rainy little island and ready to take on Europe! =D
