Looking back at that. It was amazing what a mental high could do. For the most part, I kept that game steady, watching everyone else hit each other. Then suddenly, boom - my chances came and finished that game off. Thank you, Mr Clinton.

I got 2nd place, but I was trying for first on the last hand and I didn't make it. I could have been a contender... T____T

Oh yeah. Looking over it: when I dealt in to that toi toi in the East 3rd round, I remember thinking "man, I might deal in if I throw this ." I decided to give it a try anyway, cause I thought I had a good hand. Clearly not my best decision...

Completely botched my East 3 hand, where dropping the red 5 was a misclick. Even then, dora should not have been dropped casually like that. Eventually, I exploded in the South round and simply went on a roll.

Dug myself out of last place to wind up in first place. That was a lot of fun.

Also, now I'm one win away from breaking into 1-dan. Which probably just means that I'm going to get a 4th place in my next game, but I'll take what I can get.

Once, I had called it for 10-elements. In other words, I had 10 tile types for Kokushi. I don't remember if any were paired. Nevertheless, it was Orasu, and I was sitting in 2nd within mangan range of the lead. In addition, I was oya. In that, I could not afford to shoot for Kokushi, not with the game on the line. For the next hand, if I remember correctly, I got the needed hand to win.

Though, I must admit. If you have a good Haipai... and some one else calls it, well yea. It would definitely suck.

Last game of the night for me.

I went for Kokushi on the first hand, because the dealer called tiles and prevented me from being able to do the 9terms abortive (look at me, keeping it on topic). After that hand, the guy on my right (who started as dealer) keeps on calling tiles all day long, and noses up above 30,000. On the fifth hand of the game, I got a mangan and then jumped into first place.

Interesting thing from that hand:



He looks at that tile. He sees that he can call it. He springs into action!

But wait a minute. Something's wrong here...



I won the hand on a tsumo a couple draws later. I don't know if I played that great, but I thought this was pretty funny.

(And looking at it in the morning, of course he was yaku-nashi. I really have no idea what this guy was thinking...)

This kind of game has become a typical game of mine. I sometimes get 3rd or 4th place without dealing in once. I feel like I am not aggressive enough in certain spots, like when I'm oya.
What do you guys think?

3rd place here. In the last hand, I was second, and I got a dora in my hand. I decided that I basically wasn't going to throw it unless someone else threw it first. Then, the guy across from me discarded it, kamicha drew one and changed his chi toitsu wait to it, so that when I discarded mine--Ron! I almost got bumped down to 4th with that.

Then here's my last game of the night. I was still annoyed about that green dragon thing, but I managed to make myself calm down again. I won three hands--one mangan, one dealer mangan, and one ~6,000 point hand as dealer, and came in 1st. Thing is, I won them all off of the same player. At the end of the game, I thought to myself "Wow. That guy is probably as pissed off about this as I was after my last game."

TLDR: Good night for epiphanies--bad night for mahjong (overall).

East 1-0. Bad play, or did the tiles pulled a fast one on me? After this, all is recovery, which sucks.
East 3-0. I passed up a tenpai on turn 6 trying for something bigger. In retrospect, a bad decision. What would have you done?
I don't see anything else worthy of mention, except on the last hand, I know it was a loooooong shot. I hate those kinds of hands, but I just had to go for it, hadn't I?

In the end, kamicha collapsed and I got 3rd place by default. Meh.

Bad Kyuu bad! Look at the dora indicator. For real, I did not realize that East was dora, until the double ron splashed all over my face. XD XD XD

However, it was fun putting the effort to recover from that and brought myself in contention for 2nd. In Orasu, I developed a Suu Ankou tenpai at the end, which was never meant to be 'cause the others held onto my tiles. Of course, I didn't know that. Funny thing, I would have been a better play to give up that Suu Ankou tenpai, and shoot for something more reasonable -- like a Tanyao San Ankou Dora 2. Yet, seeing no 5-sou nor 5-pin on the board, I figured that I had a very good shot at the yakuman.

Oh well, 'least I wasn't fully punished by this game.

Played some fun games in the English lobby with Kyuu and others. In the second game, I had first place for a while, but he slapped me with a dealer mangan to take it in the end. In the last game, I got to first, but then Kyuu took his dealer turn (South Third) and pulled himself up into contention. I was starting to get worried for my first place in All Last, and then this happened:

Hell yea. I'm back to 2 Dan; and it didn't take long to get back up there.

Signature Ankan call during riichi. While generally not advisable, I'm not Oya. Instead, it's my rival. So if anything, HE would be more screwed by Kan-dora + Kan-Ura. (And I've done something like that before) >:D

And why did I not call riichi? I did not want to get into trouble. Although, the 4-man discard was asking for it. Thankfully, it was worth it; and it paid off. In all honesty, I did NOT expect that 4-pin to come out so soon.

Funny how he hit me with 4-pin next hand.
