5s is the most tile efficient, and doesn't really hurt the chances of iipeiko for a dama ron. A riichi for 36s after drawing 7s/9p is still fine as long as the dealer doesn't advance too much, so there's no need to get rid of the 6p now.

5-bam is what I discarded but I was really torn between that and just not keeping that 8-dot. Is iipeiko that important at this point?
If I hold on to that 455, then all I need for tenpai is to draw a 3-bam 5-bam 6-bam or the 7-bam 9-dot you mentioned without having to wait for that specific 7-dot. I am seeing now that I can still do that and just discard that 8-dot later (if I held on to it) and all I would be giving up is a 5-bam draw of which there is only 1 left and If I do get that 7-dot, I could then discard the 6-dot . Never mind. I got it.
