Another video-game reference. Mahjong tiles form part of a cryptic puzzle to unlock an achievement on one of the zombie maps in Call of Duty: Blops II!

The character Litchi Faye-Ling in the BlazBlue beat-em-up video-games has many special moves with names taken from mahjong, such as Sangenpai, Daisharin, Kokushi and Tsubame Gaeshi.

The BlazBlue games are made by Arc System Works who also made the Tottemo E-Mahjong games for the PS4 and Vita.

The next line after a famous gag from Annie Hall (1977) has a Jewish mahjong reference.

"I was thrown out of NYU in my freshman year for cheating on my metaphysics final, you know. I looked within the soul of the boy sitting next to me.
When I was thrown out, my mother, who was an emotionally high-strung woman, locked herself in the bathroom and took an overdose of mahjong tiles."
