Hello everyone,
I've come back after a LONG absence from Reach Mahjong and the Mahjong world its self. The desire to play has once again settled in now that my home life is a bit more in order.
Last time I played I used Janryumon but I'm not sure that is the best way to go. I hear you can only play so many games and then need to pay. I want something free, pleasing to the eye (I'm a gamer so graphics are always a good point), and that I can easily get into and play with people.
I'm strapped for cash so buying anything for the Vita is out of the question - specially with Christmas and 2 teenage girls....man the price of what they want really goes up as they get older lol.
Anyway, what recommendations do you all have? I look forward to hearing them.
Thanks in advance and its good to see you all once again!

From what I've read, I didn't think janryumon existed anymore, but I could be mistaken. Tenhou is probably the best place around to play online riichi for free against real people. I'm not a big user but everyone else seems to be. It's fun. enjoyable, and "pleasing to the eye", and as I mentioned, free.
Here's what I used to get started. I'm afraid others will have to give you more detailed information, if you need it.

Re: Reccomendations for PC
I think Janryumon is currently called Shin Janryumon.
I prefer Tenhou too. You can play for free but even premium mode is A LOT cheaper than Janryumon. I pay ca 15 PLN (~5 $) for a month and can play an UNLIMITED number of games, plus I can rank up and review my game logs!
You can also try some offline Mahjong. Saikyo No Mahjong 3D is a great PC game with lots of rule settings and neat graphics. PM me if you're interested.
And let's not forget the one and only - Flash Mahjong!

Re: Reccomendations for PC
Ill check out Tenhou. I would most likely get slaughtered playing anyone there since I don't have a full grasp of the game yet.
Thanks for the replies. One day Ill see about getting a Vita game to play - those always look like fun and if I can play against folks in Japan, even better.

Re: Reccomendations for PC
I had Janryumon for Ipad, so from what I've read here it's dead? This saddens me.
I wish some of the Japanese companies would localize a game here with better promotion, ect. Just as long as they don't nickle and dime you to death, which is what Shin Janryumon seems to be going for - its a shame because I really like that game, the music was catchy and the Graphics were amazing.
